The second wife of Seiu Ito. She had an appreciation of kinbaku and modeled for Seiu Ito's illustrations and photographs.

Biography

1893-1895: Kise was born[1].

1919: Kise is introduced to Seiu Ito as a model. They marry the same year[1][note 1].

1919: Kise models for Ito’s first attempt at snow torment photography. The photographer is Ariga.[1][note 2][note 3]

1920: Seiu Ito attempts his first suspension with Kise as the model.[2]

1921: In June, a pregnant Kise models for the photo known as “Photo of an Upside-down Suspension of a Wife in the Late Stage of Pregnancy."[2]

1922: In January, Kise models for Ito for a set of snow torment photographs.[3]

1923: February 10th. Kise modeled wearing a nagajuban at a hot springs inn called the “Yoshida Gardens” in Shimotokaido with the cameraman Raito Suzuiki[3]. Next, Kise modeled fully nude for snow torment photographs at a farm locale borrowed from Gajou Sakamoto, who was living at Seiu Ito’s place at that time.[4]

1924: Sunday Mainichi publishes an introduction on snow torment with Kise Sahara on June 1st which labels her a pervert.[1]

1925: Kise joins Shoujirou Sawada’s troupe for a tour of Hokaido. Kise and Ito divorce.[5]

1926: Hokumei Umehara publishes “Photo of an Upside-down Suspension of a Wife in the Late Stage of Pregnancy” in the December 25th issue of Hentai Shiryou [note 4].

Interesting point(s)

  • At the time she and Ito married, Kise is said to have been an actress at the Kaiseiza where Ito painted signboards. She is also said to have been a day model earning eighty sen per day.

  2. A part of this work was later released by Shouzou Saitou.
  3. There is a notation in “Torment Research” in the 1930 “Die Bilder über die Strafe und Abnormer Geschlectstrieb (Pictures About Punishments and Deviant Sexual Desire)” that states that this began in January 1922.
  4. Kenzou Tomitsuka leaked the photo to friends at the time of the Great Kanto Earthquake in 1923.
